Marc Ghazali is an anthropologist, researcher, and facilitator who navigates the fields of community engagement, art & culture, and international development. He holds an MSc in social anthropology from the University of Oxford and is interested in magic, social justice, psychoanalysis, and material culture. A common thread to his varied practices is an affective engagement based on shared vulnerabilities with individuals and communities in an attempt to break the field/home dichotomy and the extractive nature of fieldwork that continue to preoccupy anthropology.
His work as a researcher caters for diverse stakeholders and audiences, from artists to humanitarian and rights organizations. In terms of medium, Marc is inspired by sensory and multimodal anthropology and attempts to do research not only through text but through installations, walking lectures, and exhibitions. Marc has extensive experience in engaging with various profiles and actors across the middle east, from migrants to farmers to fortune-tellers to refugees to grieving families to public officials to activists.
